An Exploration of Water

An Exploration of Water is a part of Geography Awareness Week in Ireland (#gaw13). We are seeking people to share a view of water with us at any stage during the week of 18th-22nd November.

What we are asking you to do?

Record, Share, Enjoy. All you need to do is record an image, video, sound or thought about water and share it with us. It’s that simple!

The easiest way this can be done is by taking a photo and sending it on (contact details below); but, we also welcome video, audio recordings, drawings, maps, poems, or anything else you can think of. The important thing is that as many people as possible take a moment out of their week to do this.

  • Record: Simply take a photo (or make a video, record audio, drawing or painting) of water in your daily life. This can be from your house or while your out walking, it can make a serious point or just be a bit of fun.
  • Share: You then share your record with us. You can email us, tweet us, upload to facebook, or share a link from a site/page where you host your materials (eg. youtube, flicker, Vine, wordpress, soundcloud, audioboo). Also, include details, such your name, where and when the record was made and a brief commentary, if you wish. Please ensure that all materials uploaded are your own work and that you own the copyright.
  • Enjoy. All contributions will be gathered, collated and shared in one place (via this site). Contributors, and everyone else, can then look over the collection, enjoy it, and hopefully learn from it.

Photography Competition
For the first time, the Geographical Society of Ireland is hosting a national photography competition as part of GeoWeek.  The three best photos related to our theme ‘An Exploration of Water’ will receive awards, to be given at a special ceremony to take place in Dublin.

Please note that in submitting an item you are agreeing to give permission to the Geographical Society of Ireland to use the item for their professional online and print publications. Also, please ensure that all materials uploaded are your own work and that you own the copyright.
